What job/study are you doing right now and tell us a little about it?
I am currently a Senior Campaign Manager for an international event company. We do events across multiple industry such as Pharma, Defence, Oil & Gas and my favourite - Gaming. I am also the Director of Publicity for the Maidenhead Drama Guild. I am responsible for marketing their productions and Panto.
Did you do any further/higher education?
After St Cuthberts, I went to Warrington Collegiate to study Music. After this I went to Buckinghamshire New University to study Music and Events Management.i graduated in 2012 with a BA(Hons).
How did you decide on your career path and what is/was most interesting about your work?
I was always interested in putting events on. This started with small music events in St Helens and Warrington and then my passion grew further at University. The most interesting thing about my work is meeting CEOs and VP's from companies such as Google, Apple, Samsung and Lego. I also get to travel the world to be at my events. I have been on places such as San Francisco, Singapore, New York and Nice.
Can you share a couple of fond memories of your time at St Cuthbert's?
I always remember practicing with my band in the music room, playing terrible music but thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread. We went on to be played on Radio 1 so guess we were not that bad.
Did you have a favourite/influential teacher? What made them so important to you?
Mrs Gallimore was always the one I used to go to for advice and wisdom. She was always good at recognizing a persons mood and be able to lift the spirit of anyone she met. Mrs Gifford also played a massive part in what I am doing now. Without her putting up with my vain attempts to play Bass guitar, I would have never found my passion in putting music events on.
What advice would you give our current students?
Enjoy yourself, learn as much as you can and leave St Cuthberts with fond memories. My closet friends are people I met at school and the things I have learnt in school have carried with me even 10 year later.
