Jason Critchley

What job/study are you doing right now and tell us a little about it?

Now I work in Business Development in High Court Enforcement having previously been in sportswear for over 10 years and previously a professional rugby player.

Did you do any further/higher education?

A BTEC National in Business Studies.

How did you decide on your career path and what is/was most interesting about your work?

I became a professional rugby player on leaving St Cuthbert's and followed my dream for over 16 years. On retirement from the sport, I passed this knowledge through to the specialist sportswear world.

Can you share a couple of fond memories of your time at St Cuthbert's?

Absolutely, particular the football and rugby teams and what those teams achieved.

Did you have a favourite/influential teacher? What made them so important to you?

Mr Burkett. He was the teacher who taught me to pick up a rugby ball for the first time and then 5 years later I was selected for England School boys, then turned professional. Without him none of my dreams would have been fulfilled. A brilliant PE teacher who gently pushed and inspired you to achieve your goals.

What advice would you give our current students?

Dream big and aspire to achieve your goals and do not let any setbacks stop you from achieving these goals.
